World Meteorological Organization maintains six lists of names to be assigned to hurricanes, one list for each year. When all six lists for six years are exhausted they start over from the first list. Each name on the list starts with an unique letter, but letters Q, U, X, Y and Z are not used. When a name is given to an extraordinarily bad hurricane that name is stricken from these lists and never used again.
